Empaths, Protect Yourself
Are you empathic, sensing and holding feelings of others? Empaths are individuals who have a heightened sensitivity to the emotions and energies of others. While this can be a valuable trait in many situations, it can also lead to emotional exhaustion and burnout. As an empath, it’s important to take steps to protect yourself and your well-being. Here are some tips for empaths to protect themselves:
First, ask yourself if the emotion you’re feeling is yours or theirs. Pinpoint who it is from. If possible, move away from the person. Ideally, twenty feet is best. If not, get as far away as possible. Where do you feel the energy? Is it in your gut, throat, or headaches, etc? Place your palm over the area and send love and kindness to soothe and relieve it. Concentrate on your breath for a few minutes. This connects you to your power and you’ll become centered.
If possible, meditate for a few minutes. Calm yourself and focus on love and positivity. Do you find that you listen to stressed people? Learn to say no. Change the subject. Visualize a white light around yourself. Direct any pain out of your body by visualizing the pain leaving your body. As soon as possible, shower. Wash it all away. Empaths need to prioritize self-care activities like exercise, meditation, and spending time in nature. These practices can help to recharge your energy and reduce stress and anxiety.
You will feel safer and healthier. This approach helps drive a bubble of protection around you to keep negative people away. You set the boundaries and let go of the energy picked up from others. It’s a gift to be compassionate. This is very different. You, as an empath, cannot take on what is not yours. You must first care for yourself in order to care for others.
